Abstract

This paper deals with the optimization problem in a microgrid, and proposes more reasonable strategy for optimal energy management. The system is designed in a multi-layer structure combining a fuzzy logic system as the main controller with a conventional algorithm. The performance and effectiveness of the developed strategy are evaluated in two case studies taking into account power balancing, ensuring high penetration of renewable energy sources, monitoring the battery state of charge and fuel cost function optimization with consideration to some objective constraints. The simulation results show the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed approach.
