Russian Tourism in Southeast Asia as a Form of Migration before and during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

The authors made a detailed analysis of the state of the tourism industry as a whole and the quantitative and qualitative char-acteristics of the Russian tourist flow to the countries of Southeast Asia with a focus on Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, etc. A comparative comparison of the situation in the pre-COVID period and during the COVID – 19 pandemic is made, the measures taken by the Russian government to evacuate and help Russians who found themselves abroad, on the one hand, and to prevent the import and spread of coronavirus infection in Russia, on the other, are shown. Restrictive and protective measures in the conditions of a pandemic in the Southeast Asian countries and their impact on Russian expats and the tourism industry as a whole are presented.
