In studying it the researcher uses Coleman's rational choice theory which is almost in line with the theory of value-oriented social action. This research is a descriptive research. The data collection technique used interviews with 18 informants consisting of 3 santri families from class 1 to grade 6. Within the scope of the Baitul Hidayah boarding school, grades 1-3 were of the same level as junior high schools and grades 4-6 of the same level as high schools. Conclusions show the family has a rational goal to be achieved in educating their children with family resources owned. Family resources in the form of cognitive resources, affective resources, time resources and material resources. In the current era of globalization which is full of challenges, the family as an actor who acts to choose by mobilizing the resources he has to achieve the goals he wants.
