With the proposed formula, a new algorithm is built to assess the transient stability to rank the power buses in a multi-machine power system, serving the power system expansion planning. The regulations of the AFR and AVR systems affecting the electromechanical transient processes are simulated to calculate the transient energy margin values for the cases of symmetrical/asymmetrical faults occurring in the test power system. Abstract
