Abstract

This paper used the panel data of 11 cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2010 to 2016 to figure out the GTFP index of the Yangtze Economic Zone through the DEA-Malmquist index method. It found was found that: the overall GTFP of the Yangtze Economic Zone shows continuous growth and relies on technological progress; the growth rates of GTFP are different at different part of the Yangtze Economic Zone during the period of study, with negative growth in the lower parts of Yangtze River and positive growth in the middle and upper parts of Yangtze River; cites in this area has same characteristics of GTFP while has their own features respectively, and technological progress is the main driving force for GTFP growth.
