Abstract
In order to connect the different regions of the country, to fully utilize the available energy resources long-distance power transmission is essentially required. In this regard high voltage direct current (HVDC) matiari project in joint collaboration with the Chinese government is in progress. The project will open a new horizon through introduction of a scheme for transfer of load between HVDC and high voltage alternating current (HVAC) in Pakistan. Electrical transmission and distribution network in Pakistan is a complex system with many geographical regions suffering from frequent blackout, limited and intermitted supply. Investment in mega-scale HVDC and HVAC load transfer scheme Projects could help to mitigate these supply related problem and counterbalance the country growing dependence on imported oil. The purpose of the paper is to explore the economic and technical impact of connecting a mega-scale HVDC transmission system to the national grid to transfer of HVDC. In Pakistan mateari to Lahore HVDC transmission line project under working to connect the national grid and Tajikistan project are also under working phases. This paper helps to develop such type of load transfer scheme between HVDC and HVAC and help to supply continuous supply to load in the form of consumers. A scheme for transfer of load between HVDC and HVAC has been design on PLC software however also hardware scale down version will be designed.
