Abstract
This paper attempts to present the problem of continuous Blood Pressure (BP) estimation using the Pulse Transit Time (PTT) cuff-less method. PTT is measured by synchronous electrocardiogram and photoplethysmograph (PPG) registration and the difference time is the basis parameter for blood pressure estimation. One of the problems to use PTT method is the necessity to calibrate with the traditional methods of Blood Pressure (TMBP) measurements. Adaptive Kalman filter (AKF) algorithm and maximum-likelihood estimation (MLE) methods were used in this paper to reduce the number of calibration measurements. The results clearly showed that the AKF used to estimate continuous BP, reduces the frequent use of the TMBP apparatus for calibration of BP measurement with PTT.
