Abstract
This paper presents a method for speed sensorless direct field oriented control (DFOC) of an induction motor (IM) driven by a voltage-source space vector modulation (SVM) inverter. The approach in this study is based on an extended Kalman filter (EKF), which estimates the rotor speed from only stator quantities, currents and line voltages. The estimated speed is used as the feedback signal for the DFOC scheme to achieve the speed sensorless vector control. A principle of this method and the practical considerations for implementing the proposed scheme on a DSP development system are discussed. Simulations results demonstrate a good performance and robustness.
