Abstract

We established basic conditions for transient gene expression and selection of antibiotics in the cultured cell line of silkworm, Bombyx mori, by use of the promoter of the heat shock protein (hsp70) gene of Drosophila melanogaster. The control promoter (hsp70) promoted the expression of chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) gene ligated at the downstream, dependent on the orientation of the promoter in the silkworm cell.
