Abstract

This paper presents a method for improving the performance of brushless direct current motor drive. This method depends on the varying of switch-on angle of motor phase current. The phase current and torque for the proposed method are discussed. The operation of brushless direct current motor drive at different switch-on angle for the same speed is studied and discussed. The results of this study show that the improved performance characteristics of brushless direct current motor by advancing the switching-on angle, can successfully achieve high-speed and a noticeable reduction in torque ripple.
