Abstract

The text introduces the specificity of genealogical research in the context of regional and local histories. The author draws attention to the impermanence of the names of the lower social strata. In addition, the text contains a catalogue of some of the oldest known names of residents of the Wawrzeńczyce, in today’s Kraków district. The realities of life in the Wawrzeńczyce parish in the pre-industrial period, the functioning of social networks, and professional activity are discussed.
