Abstract
This chapter essentially covers the behavior of dielectric liquids subjected to electric fields. The separation of sections is generally self evident but for Conduction and Electronic and Ionic Phenomena, the division is less well defined. It will be found that topics involving carrier velocity and mobility have, for the most part, been included in the conduction section. Included in this review are papers presented at the IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation held in June 1978, in Philadelphia, PA and the Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena held in October 1978 in Pocono Manner, PA. Also held in July of 1978 was the Sixth International Conference on Conduction and Breakdown in Dielectric Liquids, Rouen, France. The incidence of the latter conference, in addition to those held annually, may have been responsible for the reduction in the amount of conduction and breakdown material appearing in the literature. Consequently, many of the high quality contributions channeled into the conference are here reviewed, alongside the usual journal material.
