Research on the visual features of Chinese tag cloud based on learners' visual recognition

Abstract

Tag clouds can help learners find useful learning resources easily in E-Learning. In recent years, although there are many researches on English tag clouds, few are known about Chinese tag clouds. In this paper, we investigated the visual elements of Chinese tag clouds, and put forward their eight visual features after comparing the difference between Chinese and English in language structure. 37 students took part in the experiment designed with 40 tag clouds. Our results showed that different visual features had different impact in users' browsing behavior, which could provide a theoretical reference for tag clouds designer.
