Abstract
Extensive experience has been accumulated in the reconditioning of insulating fluid with moderate vacuum and heat, mass transfer type purifiers. A field evaluation of these low maintenance, portable purifiers at a major Canadian utility has shown them to be significantly more cost effective and easy to use than the cellulose water absorbing filter cartridges for the reconditioning of the fluids. The purifiers have proven to perform consistently and reliably in dehydrating, degassing and removing particulate contaminants from circuit breaker fluid in situ in the field and in the shop.
