EXPRESSIVENESS OF MODERN UKRAINIAN SCIENTIFIC DISCOURSE: THE LIMITS OF THE POSSIBLE

Abstract

This article addresses the issue of appropriateness of expressive components usagein modern Ukrainian academic discourse. The paper proves the relevance of expressiveness forthe academic presentation, while emphasizing its correlation with the principles of clarity andobjectivity. The article determines the most effective means of Ukrainian language, whichare employed to make academic speech confident and exciting without breaking its stylistichomogeneity. Common mistakes caused by the authors' intention to make their speech moreexpressive are analyzed. The paper suggests theoretical and practical recommendations as tothe choice of expressivity means according to the selected substyle of speech (academic, educational,and scientific-popular).
