Abstract
The work presented in this paper gives a brief design of a smart system with a moving road divider concepts to control the traffic in a effective means w.r.t. problems in densely populated traffic zones such as in the market places. This study proposes a Smart Movable Road Divider for reducing traffic congestion in urban areas and providing a clear way for ambulances. This study focuses on lowering traffic latency and providing a clear path for ambulances. The existing Road Dividers have the same number of lanes as the existing Road Dividers. The opposing area of the divider that is usually under utilised during morning and evening rush hours. To address this, a Smart Divider is used, with the moving divider dependent on traffic density utilising IR sensors. When traffic congestion on one side is high, the divider is relocated to the opposite side. When traffic congestion on one side is high, the divider is relocated to the opposite side. The traffic density is then saved in the cloud, which is made feasible by IOT. By managing the traffic signal, the RF Module creates a clear road for ambulances. A prototype for congestion control has been built and tested, for safety measures by informing vehicles of the Divider's movement.
