Abstract

How is Artificial Intelligence (AI) constructed in mass media? Incorporating corpus-assisted discourse analysis and comparative rhetorical analysis, this paper examines the representation of AI in news media in the U.S. and China, the two AI superpowers in the world. The findings suggest that the U.S. and China have different strategic areas of interest in AI, covering computer, machine, Internet, pattern recognition, driverless vehicle, and big data.
