Abstract
The cardioverter therapy has an indispensable role in the therapy of many cardiac diseases. The service life of implantable cardiac stimulators is several years. The period of their correct and guaranteed functionality is limited by the battery service-life. The cardiac stimulator battery status can be checked by means of a programmer, which is offered by the manufacturer. This solution is rather expensive and destructible. Different method of the cardiac stimulator battery checking is analysing the patient's electrocardiogram. The paper deals with possibilities and methods used when checking cardiac stimulator batteries, proposing a system capable to provide necessary information about the battery status, which would be a small portable device suitable both for general practitioner's offices and for home use as well.
