Abstract

The complex structure of the root canal system makes it impossible to completely eliminate microorganisms resis- tant to mechanical processing and irrigation. Bacteria also create biofilm layers, which make it more resistant to an- tibiotic therapy, or to irrigation and mechanical cleaning of the root canal. Recently, to increase the antimicrobial efficiency of irrigators, lasers have found wide application in in the field of endodontics. Lasers (Er:YAG, Er, Cr:YSGG, Nd:YAG, CO2 diode) are used in restorative therapy, peri- odontology and endodontics.
