In this paper, the mechanism of the black start control strategy and the feasibility of the black start with the target network charging were studied. An improved control strategy was proposed to optimize the timing of the switch closing, that made the network voltage raising from zero to rated during VSC-HVDC system charging process. Meanwhile, a RTDS black start simulation model using Luxi Back-to-back VSC-HVDC system as power supply of Yunnan power grid/Guangxi power grid was built. With VSC-HVDC C & P system and the RTDS model, a closing loop simulation platform of power grid black-start system was built. Abstract
With the large scale VSC-HVDC project put into operation, the black start based on the VSC-HVDC has become the key consideration for the dispatching operation department to formulate the black start scheme of power grid.
