Abstract

The design of a hybrid stepper motor considering various cases from the geometry point of view for achieving specific performances requires adequate geometrical sizing that may be performed through numerical modeling. With this aim, the current study is approaching the influence of the geometry for the electromagnetic torque calculation on a stepper motor considering various models. For each one, three–dimensional numerical analysis is used to predetermine the detent and holding torque versus angle characteristics. Moreover, optimal technical solutions were obtained through successive improvements made in the design phase and concurring with the requirements of the product specification.
