Engagement in the City: How Arts and Culture Impact Development in Urban Areas , edited by Bryna Bobick & Leigh Hersey, is a book that synthesizes the worlds of community development and the arts. Through the voices of the many authors, we can deepen our understanding of the ways in which these two areas blend, and through this amalgamation, we see that this cohesion can achieve significant outcomes. The book covers three main components: public outreach and civic engagement; place-focused aspects including community development and cultural districts; and arts education as a tool for social cohesion. The ten chapters include an introduction and conclusion by the editors.
