In this sense, the objective of this work is to do the first approach to the basic concepts used as tools for planning the territory, in order to contribute to the conceptual clarification of the urban sciences. It is established some of the most used concepts to plan a territory in this century -Urbanism, Planning, Project, Territorial Planning, Urban Planning Code, Strategic Planning- and what is understood by each of them.
