Abstract

In this paper the performance analysis of the Undersampled Frequency Shift ON-OFF Keying (UFSOOK) protocol, used for camera communications, is provided. Real physical effects, such as frequency error between the camera and the transmitter, and the sampling properties of the camera are investigated. The theoretical bit detection error rate, as a function of these effects and the protocol’s design parameters is derived, providing means for the protocol designer to tune the performance properties of the protocol. The theoretical findings are verified by real measurements.
