Abstract

NoSQL databases have gained prominence in recent years because of their ability to scale easily and provide support for large amount of structured as well as unstructured data. User applications that need to perform heavy write operations have started making a paradigm shift to NoSQL databases with the overall intention to enhance performance. Eventually, various types of NoSQL databases have come up that have several features that suit different user specific needs. In this paper, the authors evaluate the performance of MySQL, Cassandra and HBase for heavy write operations by a Web based REST application.
