Abstract

Risk assessment typically includes various stages to identify, analyze and evaluate risk, and to reduce risk as needed. For example, the risk of electric shock could be assessed for a product. But to achieve an acceptable level of safety, and then to maintain that level, and even assess opportunities for improvement, it could be very useful to incorporate this risk assessment into a more complete framework of a safety management process. Such a comprehensive and systematic approach can help to manage the safety of a product, as demonstrated by examples of electric shock hazards.
