Salah satu bakteri penyebab jerawat ialah Staphylococcus epidermidis. Salah satu tumbuhan asli Indonesia yang kaya akan manfaatnya ialah Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC). Kandungan senyawa aktif yang bersifat antimikroba didalam andaliman diduga berpotensi dapat menghambat maupun mengatasi pertumbuhan bakteri, salah satunya bakteri penyebab jerawat (Staphylococcus epidermidis). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas antimikroba ekstrak buah Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC) terhadap aktivitas pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah Eksperimental Laboratorium. Pengambilan ekstrak dilakukan dengan metode Maserasi menggunakan pelarut metanol dan Pengujian Antimikroba menggunakan metode Difusi Kertas Cakram (Disc Diffusion Method). Konsentrasi ekstrak Andaliman yang digunakan 25%, 50%, 75% dan 100%, sebagai kontrol positif (+) Clindamycin dan sebagai kontrol negatif (-) DMSO. Hasil Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak methanol buah andaliman terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis yang dilakukan dengan metode difusi kertas cakram menunjukkan hasil rata-rata diameter zona hambat untuk konsentrasi 25% ; 7 mm, 50% ; 7,4 mm, 75% ; 7,6 mm, dan 100% ; 9,4 mm. Sedangkan untuk kontrol negative (-) 7,5 mm dan untuk kontrol positif (+) 58,4 mm. Kesimpulan Hasil penelitian uji efektivitas ekstrak buah andaliman terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis menunjukkan bahwa ekstak methanol buah andaliman terbukti memiliki daya hambat terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis namun dalam kategori sedang. konsentrasi 100% memiliki daya hambat yang paling besar yaitu 9,4 mm. Sedangkan yang memiliki diameter zona hambat terkecil berada pada konsentrasi 25% yaitu 7 mm.  Kata kunci : Antimikroba; Buah Andaliman; Staphylococcus epidermidis. Abstract                 People with acne are mostly experienced by about 75-80 % of adults which often leads to unpleasant taste patient. One of the acne-causing bacteria is Staphylococcus epidermidis. One of the plant native to Indonesia that is rich in benefits is Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC). The content of the compound active is antimicrobial in andaliman allegedly can potentially inhibit or overcome the growth of bacteria, one of which is acne-causing bacteria (Staphylococcus epidermidis). This study aims to determine the effectiveness of antimicrobial fruit extract of Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC) to the activity of the bacterial growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis. Type of research used in this research is an Experimental Laboratory. Taking the extract is carried out by the method of Maceration using methanol solvent and the Antimicrobial properties were tested using the Diffusion method Paper Discs (Disc Diffusion Method). Concentration extract of Andaliman used 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%, as the positive control (+) Clindamycin and as a negative control (-) DMSO. The results of Testing the antibacterial activity of the extract of methanol andaliman against the bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis, which is done by the method of diffusion paper discs show the results of the average diameter of the inhibition zone for the concentration of 25% ; 7 mm, 50% ; 7.4 mm, 75% ; 7.6 mm, and 100% ; 9.4 mm. As for the negative control (-) 7.5 mm and for the positive control (+) 58,4 mm. Conclusion the Results of the research test the effectiveness of the fruit extract of andaliman against the bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis showed that the extract of methanol andaliman shown to have inhibition against the bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis but in the medium category. 100% concentration has a power resistor which is 9.4 mm.
