In particular, multimedia data is represented in terms of its inherent correlation, and the transmission performance is characterized by transmission reliability and efficiency. Consequently, a joint source and channel coding scheme is devised in order to accomplish tradeoffs between transmission efficiency and reliability. Moreover, diversity reception is studied in terms of improved transmission reliability and reduced error protection. Abstract
