The research in this study was in a form of qualitative descriptive research. This study conducted research toward three qualified teachers at Language Development Center of IAIN Padangsidimpuan together with the students who study English with them. The instruments used were observation and interview. This study found that there were some interaction patterns applied by the teachers in teaching English. They were group work, full class interaction, close ended teachers questioning, open ended teachers questioning, individual work, choral responses, and students initiate and teachers answer. From these interaction patterns, there are two patterns dominantly used by the teachers i.e. group work and full class interaction. 本研究探讨了英语教学情境中的互动模式,旨在探讨教师所采用的互动模式类型、所面临的问题以及解决问题的方法。本研究的问题分为三个部分,即;1)教师在英语教学中使用什么类型的互动模式?2)教师在运用互动模式进行英语教学时面临的问题是什么? 3)教师在运用互动模式进行英语教学时如何解决问题?本研究采用定性描述性研究的形式。本研究以巴当斯丁普安语言发展中心的三位合格教师为对象,与他们一起学习英语的学生进行研究。采用观察法和访谈法。本研究发现教师在英语教学中运用了一些互动模式。它们分别是小组作业、全班互动、封闭式教师提问、开放式教师提问、个人作业、合唱反应和学生发起教师回答。从这些互动模式来看,教师主要使用两种模式,即小组互动和全班互动。本研究发现教师在监督学生的小组工作和学生的整个课堂活动方面存在困难,这与互动模式的实施问题有关
