Abstract
This paper presents a smart system for worker safety in industrial scenarios, through the adoption of the Radio Frequency Identification technology (RFID). In particular, a localization system to measure the position of workers in close proximity to machinery assemblies is here presented. The RFID-based localization method exploiting a synthetic-array approach is described and characterized with specific reference to its realtime applicability needed to safety requirements. The latter is conceived in the framework of the SENERGY Project co-funded by the National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work, INAIL, Italy.
