Numerical computations were performed using SIMULIA Abaqus software. The way of defining and developing the computational model was described. In the numerical procedure adopted in the paper, much attention was paid to formulas related to various types of the model parameters that depend on the fire temperature. The results were shown in a graphic form. They were compared with the results obtained from the analysis, in which the impact of elevated temperatures was disregarded. Based on numerical simulation results, an attempt was made to assess the effect of fire on the steel frame components. The paper is exploratory in character and provides an introduction to the issues related to the modelling of steel structure fires. Abstract

In the paper, the stages of modelling of a steel frame under fire conditions were discussed. Numerical computations were performed using SIMULIA Abaqus software. The way of defining and developing the computational model was described. In the numerical procedure adopted in the paper, much attention was paid to formulas related to various types of the model parameters that depend on the fire temperature.
