Abstract

This paper aims to identify the socioeconomic, the demographic, the budgetary and the management factors that exert influence on students' performance, taking as reference the Brazilian Southeast. To meet the objectives, 1542 observations of municipalities were used and a multiple regression was performed, using the IDEB as a dependent variable. The results showed that the improvement in the socioeconomic condition and the income of the population positively affects students' grades, as well as Fundeb resources. The study corroborates the importance of public policies of income redistribution, and the financial investments to reduce existing educational inequalities.
