12 GHz I.F. Amplifier for the ITALSAT Global Payload

Abstract

This paper describes the 12 GHz Intermediate Frequency Amplifier (IFA) to be used in the global coverage payload of the Italian Satellite ITALSAT. The IFA features two operation modes: Mode 1 as limiting amplifier and Mode 2 as linear, programmable gain, amplifier. Switchover between Mode 1 and Mode 2 is accomplished by a Switch Closure type Telecommand.
