Abstract
This paper deals with the power supply of electric lights, focuses attention on the quality of the power source, which is directly related to the influence on the public electricity grid. Modern LED lights, which can be fabricated in different variants, are used in households and industry mainly for their economic operation. The reliability of these luminaires is many times longer than recently used neon tubes or lamps with tungsten filament. The paper compares the measured data from several variants of the LED lights dedicated to different applications for household or for industry. Samples of lights, which were compared, are lights for household, industry, and street lighting. Important quality factors are PF THD parameters with gradual dimming that is controlled by an external module or directly integrated in the luminaire case. These parameters are directly related to the impact on the public electricity grid. Measured values were recorded at 100%, 70% and 50% dimming.
