Abstract

The structures and dimensions of model which has been established in advance have to be modified to suit the different environments in real application. These would cause the numerous and repeated amending design. We studied product design process and variational design technique, then proposed three kinds of methods to actualize variational design, which achieved variational design in 3D parts, model assembly and 2D engineering drawings. At last, a rapid design platform for mechanical product which integrated design knowledge of drum was established. It's testified that the system can rebuild product models more quickly, and promote the design efficiency and quality remarkably.
