Abstract

The e-Learning is a subject to constant change as a result of the dynamics in technological, pedagogical and social areas. Trends in the research interest can outline hot topics and subfields of latest advances in this research area. The main objective of this paper is to explore and analyze the development of e-learning over the last 30 years, outline ad discuss trends and challenges in the context of the usage of social web, semantic web and intelligent technologies. We also analyze the evolution of computer – based tools and technologies, used in e-learning and outline the future of the usage of intelligent technologies in e-learning.
