Abstract
The though understanding of the electrical breakdown strength along dielectric behavior of polymer nanocomposites is essential for structure of high energy density dielectric materials. Moreover, it is challengeable to find out the breakdown strength behavior due to the complex elements involved in such kind of quite non-equilibrium process. The well-organized structure of sandwich type polymeric dielectric nanocomposites resulted regionalized conveyance of nanofillers, which is critical to figure out electrical properties of the composites. In this research study, pure polymer poly(vinylidene fluoride) and BaTiO3/poly(vinylidene fluoride) (BT/PVDF, denominated as Bv(various loading of nanofillers) and Bc(constant loading of nanofillers) sandwich structured nanocomposites (Bv-Bc-Bv) were prepared and their electrical breakdown strength and dielectric behavior capabilities were studied. The significantly enhanced breakdown strengths were seen in pure polymer and Bv-Bc-Bv sandwich structured nanocomposites by loading 3% volume fraction of nanofillers with ∼539.69kV/mm and ∼409.01kV/mm respectively. Electrical storage properties of sandwich structured nanofilms were generally directed by “electric field distribution” due to the tallying of high dielectric constant BT nanofillers in the layered structures, which was verified by COMSOL simulations. It was shown that optimum quantity of nanofillers loading in the specified design of nanocomposites with optimized parameters like film casting temperature, mass ratio of polymeric material with nanofillers and annealing temperature play necessary role to enhance ESP.
