Make to Order (MTO) production system: Structure, processes and techniques

Abstract

In general terms, the productive organizations can be classified into three broad categories including (1) Make to Stock (MTS), (2) Make to Order (MTO) and (3) Assemble to Order (ATO) in terms of level of production, demand volume and process. Since the present study falls into the second and third categories and considering particular specifications of Make to Order manufacturing system which is between an operation and a project, the researcher tried to present his experiences and views to implement a production planning system in a Make to Order manufacturing and Assembly center [1].
