Abstract

This study tries to use the fragmentary lithic material in order to learn details about the presence of human communities during pre-and proto-historic Periods in the studied area. Flint findings were a byproduct of the general survey and their collection was selective because of inadequate know-how of the teams at the time and the fact that attention was paid mainly to historic sites. The aim of this study was to establish a general chronological framework for the flint assemblages but in some cases it was impossible to distinguish sub-stages or local characteristics. This index contains a list of terms and concepts relevant to the results of a complete and detailed archaeological survey in the area of ancient Shechem and Samaria.Keywords: flint findings; historic sites; Samaria; Shechem
