Abstract

Now a day's most of the technologies uses ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) 2.4GHz Radio band for wireless communication such as Bluetooth, Microwave oven, Wi-Fi networks, ZigBee/IEEE 802.15.4 Wireless Data networks. In these communication technologies, the signal's strength gets attenuated due to some obstacles in between communication process. In this paper, authors presented the analysis of the impact of various building materials on Wi-Fi signal strength in ISM 2.4GHz band. When a Wi-Fi signal leave a transmitting device then that signal passes through various materials it can be Air or any other solid materials which are seen as obstacle for a signals. The amount of degradation of strength in Wi-Fi signal depends upon the properties of materials such as hardness, Strength, Absorption from which it passes through. The aim of this paper is to put an experimental data of Wi-Fi signal strength with an obstacle in between the sender and receiver, and without an obstacle. We used various materials as an obstacles such as glass, wood and metal etc. and conducted experiment and measured the experimental data of how various materials affects the Wi-Fi Signal strength in ISM 2.4GHz band.
