Abstract

As connected technologies and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) make their way into the petrochemical industry, a path has been opened for data to play a very important role in monitoring electrical infrastructure to make informed and timely decisions. Many details must be considered to implement a digitally connected substation: communication infrastructure, networking design, smart-connected devices, and real-time in-premise monitoring.
