The study was carried out with 62 secondary school students in 2018-2019 education year. In the research, the students completed the phrase of “Social Studies Course is like……………… Because……………..”. Through these forms, metaphorical perceptions of students towards social studies course were tried to determine. In the study, a semi-structured interview form was used as the data collection tool. Content analysis method was used in data analysis. According to the findings of the research, students produced 31 valid metaphors for social studies course. These metaphors were then examined in terms of their common characteristics and collected under 5 different conceptual categories.
