Communicating About Sexuality in Catholic Homes

Abstract

With the proliferation of mature sexual themes and erotic movies being telecast into the homes of the American public, a study was undertaken to understand the nature of interaction between Catholic parents and their teenage daughters about sexual topics in general and around coincidental television viewing. The results indicate that, depending upon whether it is the father or the mother involved with the daughter and the degree of liberalism of the parents, different patterns of communication about sexuality occur.
