Abstract
In order to research the lightning induced overvoltage on the metal sheath of buried cables, the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) algorithm is used to calculate the underground lightning electromagnetic field. By using the vector fitting method, the field-line coupling model is simplified, the lightning induced overvoltage on the buried cable sheath is calculated, and the effect of vertically layered soil on the induced voltage on the buried cable sheath is analyzed.
