Motion Graphics with Fundamental Principles and Techniques in New Media

Abstract

The development of the Internet and digital technologies has transformed both the way designers communicate and the way they design. The concept of “new media” that emerged with the digital transformation has brought a new dimension to the language of communication and design. In today's visual communication era, it is seen that moving images gain importance rather than still images, so moving images make communication stronger and more effective. Because classical methods are not enough to affect the masses with fast lifestyle and fast consumption habits. Today, depending on the increase in people's interest in digital screens, designs are also shaped according to these screens, and it is seen that motion graphics are becoming increasingly important in visual communication design (graphic design). Today's visual culture consists of hybrid and moving image forms rather than pure and static forms. Combining the basic principles and techniques of different disciplines ensures the production of unique works. Graphic design, cinematography, animation etc. Original graphic design applications, which are formed by the interaction of different disciplines such as, where different content (multimedia components such as illustration, photography, animation, video and sound) and basic principles and techniques are mixed, are among the most obvious examples of this. In this research, the usage areas of motion graphics in new media, the basic concepts, basic principles and techniques of motion graphics are emphasized. In this context, the 100th Anniversary Promotional Example of the August 30 Victory Day was developed. This developed application was supported with visual examples by describing how motion graphics are realized according to the basic principles and techniques. Considering that motion graphics can be used more frequently in the future according to the data obtained in the research, it can be said that more research should be done on academic motion graphics and interactive motion graphic design. This type of research should be about how the programs used or the original programs that can be used can be developed as well as putting forward original application examples.
