Abstract

This paper describes our experience using entrepreneurial clients to teach a Project Management course. Although the majority of students are currently Marketing & Management Communication Students, Engineering and Computer Science Design students also participate, and learn from the multidisciplinary teams formed for the coursework. The course focus is first and foremost on project management processes and the roles of communication and rhetoric in developing their project conception and planning choices and documents. However, students have also used skills gained in the course to build their own companies after graduation, indicating that the course experience can support teaching entrepreneurship communication. We describe how we use entrepreneurial clients in the course, as well as discuss issues related to service learning, and accreditation when comparing US and Danish university contexts. We found that course context which we have developed encourages Alumni to consider entrepreneurship as a career possibility.
