Abstract
IPv4 address space is exhausted. IETF developed IPv6 the new upgraded version from IPv4 to provide the continual increase of the IP address needs over the Internet. As the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 all over the Internet is slow, their coexistence is a must. 6to4 is used to transmit native IPv6 packets over IPv4 networks. Meanwhile, VoIP is also gaining momentum and expected to occupy considerable percentage of Internet traffic. In this paper, we measure the VoIP performance over 6to4 versus conventional IPv4 and IPv6 networks. The measurements are collected out of probing a single call in presence of HTTP, FTP or Voice traffic in the network background. Quality of Service elements as jitter, network delay, and throughput and packet loss percentage are measured. Also the call user satisfaction is assessed by Mean Opinion Score.
