Abstract
AMR Codec on GSM system can increase the channel capacity up to 75%. However, the increasing of channel capacity can decrease the speech quality or outage probability. The channel capacity has a strong relation with hysteresis range of the received signal. A proper hysteresis range adjustment may reduce handover probability significantly, so that the communication link will not seriously affected. For a certain hysteresis range, every 1 dB increasing in hysteresis value can make the handover probability of 7% lower
