Abstract
Just because we could, does it mean we should?
The advancement in technology is continuing to move at an exponential pace. We are living in an ever changing environment; one where machine intelligence is constantly evolving and taking a more active role in society.
The paper attempts to examine and raise awareness of the issues and problems in the development and operation of intelligent machines in their failure to address ethical and social factors. It raises issues concerning the future of human machine relationships and provides questions for an exploratory discussion of the social implications and considerations that they present. These questions should be asked in preparation for the many implications and impacts involved with future cyber-love, sex and relationships; we need to be aware and have consideration of the social involvement and the psychological well-being of people as a result of using them. In-depth discussions on these areas are beyond the scope of this paper, but an overview will be presented.
A brief overview is given of recent and current research on intelligent machines in the home as well as acceptance of robots in a given situation.
