Abstract

This paper covers a selected set of potentially high impact emerging technologies for 5G wireless communication as well as their current state of maturity and scenarios for the future. ‘Interoperable’, ‘ubiquitous’ and ‘dynamic’ are key words describing 5G networks and applications. The paper focuses on what are the necessary critical innovations, also undertaken within standardization and how to explore these as well as what are the expected challenges. It further identifies future directions for 5G and gives a vision of such communication system.
